Day three dawned and we packed up and headed off to Maguk. This once again involved a trek in off the highway to a parking area before shanks ponies were again required.
Sadly, on arriving, as I got out of the car I heard a hiss and found the rear drivers side tyre rapidly de-pressurising. we decided to enjoy the falls before worrying about the tyre, so left it to finish going down while we had lunch and then set off.
Again we had a lovely (although different) walk in, including another section of rocks to navigate through. Sadly this time I forgot the camera, so no pictures

. The plunge pool below the waterfall is another that swimming is safe in, but again the depth meant that Max wasn’t confident to go too far.

When we arrived back I set about changing the tyre, with a little help from Max. After getting everything sorted I realised that I should have done it before we went into the plunge pool as I could have cooled off and cleaned up with a swim. Instead we drove back to the Maguk campsite, which was a very peaceful little spot. Initially Max wanted to stay for a couple of nights but after discussing how dirty we were going to end up once I had attempted to repair the tyre he agreed that we should move on to Gunlom, which has showers, the next day.

A late start the next day (due to Max not waking up until 9am), resulted in us reaching Gunlom for lunch. No great problem though as we had decided that today wasn’t going to consist of too much anyway.
After lunch the first order of the day was the tyre, however on pulling it out and putting some air into it it became obvious that it was a small split rather than a puncture – so a new tyre appears our only option – wonderful given how depleted our emergency funds are at the moment! I guess it is the first tyre problem we have had in close to 20,000 kilometres though so it was likely to happen at some stage. Once we had finished with the tyre even Max was ready for a shower, with the rest of the day being given over to blogs, school work and some relaxation. Tomorrow more waterfalls beckon.
Your swags look so cute together!!!
